Dr. Maryann Mikhail is a New York City based Board Certified Dermatologist. She divides her time between private practice and an academic faculty position as Director of Phototherapy at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center.
A lifelong New Yorker, Dr. Mikhail completed her undergraduate degree at New York University where she graduated summa cum laude with a double major in biology and Spanish. She stayed at New York University for medical school and graduated with honors in cell biology after completing a year of advanced clinical research in melanoma. Dr. Mikhail then moved uptown to complete her internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center.
Dr. Mikhail practices medical, laser, and cosmetic dermatology. She is particularly interested in helping patients with acne and acne scarring achieve clear skin. Her approach is first to identify the root cause of breakouts and then to treat with an individualized combination of proper skin care, diet, medications, hormonal treatments, blue light and photodynamic therapy. When skin is clear, she uses chemical peels, laser resurfacing and microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma) to improve scarring.
As Director of Phototherapy for over 5 years, Dr. Mikhail has special expertise in the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and vitiligo as well as in photodynamic therapy for acne and actinic keratoses. Her cosmetic approach is focused on attaining natural results through precise, incremental enhancements. She is skilled in the use of neuromodulators, dermal fillers, microneedling with PRP and a variety of peels and lasers.
