The Lenox Hill Neighborhood in NYC

Lenox Hill is a neighborhood of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. According to the Encyclopedia of New York City, Lenox Hill is the neighborhood between 60th Street and 77th Street, from Fifth Avenue on the west to Lexington Avenue on the east. This borough is located amongst some of the most beautiful natural scenery and stunning man-made landmarks in NYC. The affluent neighborhood is home to many newly developed condo-buildings with modern amenities, but is most known for its upscale residences that date back to as early as the 19th century. 

The vibe of Lenox Hill can change depending on the block. For example, 5th Avenue is lined with historic landmarks and impressive architecture. Madison Avenue, just one block east, is known for its prestigious boutiques and stores of luxury brands. It is only until you reach the side streets when Lenox Hill begins to feel less busy and more residential.

Lenox Hill can be described as vibrant and busy. The apartments are said to be a little smaller, the street scene a little bit livelier, and the stores open a little bit later. It is very common for families to walk along streets lined with trees and elegant townhomes. For families with children, there are two options for public elementary schools; East Side Elementary and Robert L. Stevenson School. There is one option for public middle school in Lenox Hill; Robert F. Wagner Middle School. Private schools and religious private school options are available in Lenox Hill as well, for example Browning School, Lycée Francais de New York, and The Manhattan School.
