before and after results from a dermal filler treatment in NYC for lip augmentation

As we mature, loss of volume leads to wrinkles, prominent nasolabial folds, thinned lips, exaggerated jowls, and marionette lines. The natural deterioration of underlying bone and soft tissue leaves a hollowed, aged appearance. Fillers injected below the skin surface can correct age-related volume loss.

At Spring Street Dermatology in New York City, our expert team uses hyaluronic acid-based fillers like Juvéderm® and Restylane® to augment the cheeks, reduce wrinkles, enhance lips and give patients a natural, more youthful appearance.

We are constantly introducing the latest innovations in dermal fillers, including Restylane Kysse, the most advanced lip filler on the market today, in addition to collagen stimulators like Sculptra® and neuromodulators such as Botox Cosmetic at our SOHO and Uptown offices.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances formulated for injection under the skin to treat aging symptoms. They are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin.

Unlike neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport that affect underlying muscles to correct dynamic wrinkles, dermal fillers restore volume to minimize fine lines and static wrinkles while contouring the face.

At our SOHO and Uptown offices, we offer the Restylane and Juvéderm families of fillers, as well as the collagen stimulator Sculptra. Specifically, we offer:

  • Restylane (for the lower face)
  • Restylane Kysse (for the lips and lines around the lips)
  • Restylane Lyft (for the midface and hands)
  • Restylane Refyne/Defyne (for deep lines on the lower face)
  • Restylane Silk (for the lips and lines around the lips)
  • Juvéderm Volumaâ„¢ XC (for the cheeks and chin)
  • Juvéderm Vollureâ„¢ XC and Juvéderm XC (for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds)
  • Juvéderm Volbellaâ„¢ XC (for the lips and lines around the lips)
  • Juvéderm Ultra XC (also for the lips and lines around the lips)
  • Sculptra (for the temples, cheeks, in front of the ear, forehead, beneath the eyebrow, and jawline)

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that works differently than dermal fillers. Sculptra injections trigger the body’s natural healing process, which involves new collagen production. Over the course of several months, collagen continues to build, restoring volume and smoothing wrinkles.

Who is a candidate for dermal fillers in NYC?

Any adult in good health who would like to minimize aging symptoms or improve facial contours could be a good candidate for facial fillers. Patients should have realistic expectations of how fillers could improve their appearance.

Dermal filler effects are temporary, so candidates should be able to return for regular appointments to maintain their results. Most of the dermal fillers we offer at our New York offices last between 6-18 months, although some may last even longer. Sculptra can last up to two years once the results are fully apparent.

Dermal fillers and collagen stimulators can improve early signs of aging, but more advanced skin laxity and deeper creases and folds may not be improvable with injection treatments.

Laser resurfacing or microneedling can be used with fillers if you are further along in the aging process. Our board-certified dermatologists and physician assistants will recommend the best treatment options for you during your consultation.

What to expect during a treatment session in New York City

facial fillers before and after results in NYC

Before your treatment, you may opt for a topical numbing solution for increased comfort, which we would apply before beginning your session.

Your physician will ask you about what areas you’d like to adjust, and they will detail what results they can achieve with fillers. Your physician may mark treatment spots with a pen that uses special ink that washes off right away.

They will then inject the best fillers for the treatment areas, and the entire process usually takes less than 30 minutes.

If you feel any pain during your session, let your physician know so they can provide ice or topical anesthetic.
