Botox for Bunny Lines

Patient discussing Botox treatments at Spring Street New York City

Botox® Cosmetic is one of the most effective non-surgical, anti-aging procedures for treating expression lines and wrinkles. In addition to frown lines and crow’s feet, Botox minimizes the appearance of bunny lines on each side of the nose.

What are bunny lines?

Bunny lines are small lines and creases on either side of the nose that appear when you scrunch up or wrinkle your nose. These are typically straight, slightly diagonal lines that resemble rabbit ears and point up toward the eyes. When you’re young, bunny lines disappear once your face is at rest. Repeated expression and loss of collagen with age can cause these lines to deepen whether you’re moving your face or not.

How does Botox work for bunny lines?

When a dermatologist injects Botox into facial muscles, the medication blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles. Since many lines on the face, including bunny lines, are caused by repeated muscle contractions, blocking the signals can relax the muscles and minimize the appearance of wrinkles to create smoother and younger-looking skin.

Where is Botox injected for bunny lines?

Botox injections are administered on the sides of the nose bridge, high up on the nose, and in other areas around the nose with lines and wrinkles.

What to expect on the day of the injection?

Botox treatment for bunny lines typically takes just a few minutes to complete in our dermatology offices in Soho and Uptown. Most treatments take between five and 15 minutes.

Your dermatologist may ask you to lie down on your back or sit up. A topical anesthetic is available, but the needle used is tiny, so most patients do not require numbing before the procedure. Your provider will inject Botox into areas around the sides of your nose. The procedure may require multiple injections. Once your treatment is over, you can immediately resume your schedule.

How many units of Botox are required?

Two to three units of Botox Cosmetic on either side of the nose are usually enough for most patients, but those with more severe wrinkles may require additional units.

How much is Botox for the bunny lines?

The cost of a Botox treatment depends on several factors, including the number of Botox units required, your provider’s level of experience, and your location.

Please remember that you cannot put a price on safety and a doctor’s expertise. Only seek treatments from the most qualified injectors to ensure a safe and successful outcome.
